Leveraging WSL For DevOps and Cross-Platform Development
Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) is a powerful feature of Windows 10 that unlocks a new universe of DevOps functionality and cross-platform development opportunities on Windows and Linux. This talk will introduce attendees to some of the unique workflows that developers, system administrators, project managers, and DevOps engineers can leverage using WSL. These workflows include automating Docker container creation and deployment, linking Visual Studio Code to WSL for building and testing cross-platform apps, and managing hybrid Windows and Linux server infrastructure using SSH and Ansible. Attendees will learn how to enable and install WSL, install Linux development tools on WSL, connect WSL to a Windows-based IDE, and write and debug a basic Linux application from Windows. This talk is based on feedback and use cases the Pengwin team has seen from real-world users of Pengwin and WSL in production.
Time, day, and location are TBA.
